Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Awarded “Global Goalkeeper Award” to PM Modi.
In the meantime he also addressed the global recession and corporate executives at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum.
According to the Foundation, the purpose of the award is to give special honor to a political leader who has demonstrated his commitment to the Global Goals through influential work in his country or worldwide.

Accepting the award, PM Modi said he shared the honour with crores of Indians who had contributed to the success of the cleanliness mission.

The purpose of this mission is to accelerate efforts to achieve sovereign sanitation coverage in the country as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birthday.
To prevent people from open defecation by 2nd October 2019, 9 crore toilets have been built so far.
The campaign began on October 2, 2014. PM Modi was launching the campaign on the Delhi Rajpath saying, “Through a clean India, the country can pay its best tribute on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in 2019.”
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation hosted the 4th Annual Goalkeepers Global Goals Awards on 24th September 2019.
Former US President Barack Obama, French President Emmanuel Macron, Deputy UN Secretary-General Amina Mohammad, Nobel Prize winners Malala Yousafzai and Nadia Murad were present at the Goalkeepers event in the past years.
