NFR Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has officially released a recruitment notification for the engagement of Act Apprentices across various divisions and workshops. Salary / Monthly Stipend
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend during their training period in accordance with the standard curriculum guidelines enforced since 11-09-2025.
- 1st Year (Base): Rs. 9,600/- per month.
- 2nd Year: Rs. 10,560/- per month (with 10% increase).
- 3rd Year: Rs. 11,040/- per month (with 15% increase).
- Note: No hostel accommodation will be provided during the training period.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational & Technical Qualification
- For General ITI Trades: Candidates must have passed Matriculation (Class 10) or its equivalent under the 10+2 system with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized board. They must also possess a valid National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the designated trade issued by NCVT/SCVT. (Note: The 50% minimum mark requirement in Matriculation is waived for SC, ST, and PwBD candidates).
- For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology & Radiology): Candidates must have passed Class 12 under the 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, along with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in both Class 10 and Class 12.
2. Age Limit (As of 19/08/2026)
- Minimum Age: 15 Years
- Maximum Age: 24 Years
- Note: Upper age relaxation is applicable as per government rules: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for PwBD / Ex-Servicemen (ExSM) candidates.
Mode of Selection
The selection process is entirely merit-based and does not involve any written exam or interview.
- Merit List Calculation: The final panel ranking will be calculated using the average percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (Class 10) + ITI marks in the relevant trade.
- Tie-Breaker: If two or more candidates secure equal marks, the older candidate will be ranked higher. If the date of birth is also identical, the candidate who passed the matriculation exam earlier will be preferred.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification up to 1.5 times the number of available slots.

Application Processing Fee
The application fee must be paid online via the integrated payment gateway (Non-refundable):
- SC / ST / PwBD / EBC / Women Candidates: Nil (Exempted from fee payment). (Note: For EBC waiver, family income must be less than Rs. 50,000/- per annum, supported by an income certificate issued on or after 01-04-2026).
- All Other Categories (General, OBC, EWS): Rs. 100/-
- Application Modification: Corrections to a submitted form can be made at a fee of Rs. 50/- per occasion (basic registration details cannot be changed).
Important Employment Clause
Imparting training under the Act Apprentices scheme does not confer any right for default appointment in railway services. However, 20% of vacancies notified in Level-1 (erstwhile Group D) posts will give preference to Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAA) trained in railway establishments who possess the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC), provided they pass the minimum qualifying criteria.
